Throwback Thursday: Classic Super Nintendo Games We’d Love to Stream
Every Thursday, we take a trip down memory lane with our #ThrowbackThursday stream, and what better way to revisit gaming history than with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)? The SNES era was packed with iconic titles that defined entire genres, introduced us to legendary characters, and continue to inspire modern games today.
If you love retro gaming, here are some SNES classics we’d love to feature on our stream!
1. Super Mario World (1991)
You can’t talk about SNES without mentioning Super Mario World. This masterpiece introduced Yoshi, expanded Mario’s world with secret paths, and delivered some of the tightest platforming gameplay ever. Watching Mario soar with the Cape Feather or uncovering hidden levels in the Star Road would make for an exciting stream—especially if we attempt a 100% completion run!
2. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1992)
One of the best Zelda games of all time, A Link to the Past introduced many elements still used in the series today—like parallel worlds, epic dungeon designs, and legendary items. Streaming a full playthrough (or even a speedrun attempt) would bring back some serious nostalgia.
3. Super Metroid (1994)
If you love exploration and eerie sci-fi vibes, Super Metroid is a must. The game’s atmospheric storytelling, power-up hunting, and intense boss fights make it perfect for a retro stream. Plus, watching us navigate Planet Zebes and pull off sequence breaks could be a fun challenge!
4. Donkey Kong Country (1994)
This game blew minds back in the day with its pre-rendered 3D graphics, and it still holds up! Whether we’re rolling through levels with DK and Diddy, dodging enemies in Mine Cart Madness, or struggling through the infamous Barrel Blast sections, this game is guaranteed to deliver some throwback fun.
5. Street Fighter II: Turbo (1993)
What’s a throwback stream without some classic fighting game action? Street Fighter II: Turbo lets us throw down as Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, and the rest of the iconic roster. Maybe we’ll even host a viewer challenge and see if anyone can take us down!
6. Mega Man X (1993)
The Mega Man X series took the blue bomber to new heights with fast-paced gameplay, new abilities like wall jumping, and the ability to power up with hidden armor upgrades. Will we find all the Heart Tanks and Hadouken upgradebefore facing off against Sigma? Tune in to find out!
7. EarthBound (1995)
Few games are as quirky and beloved as EarthBound. With its unique modern setting, offbeat humor, and unforgettable characters like Ness and Jeff, this RPG is a fan favorite. Maybe we’ll do a "No Crying Until the End" challenge—because let’s be real, that final boss fight always hits different.
8. F-Zero (1991)
Before Mario Kart, there was F-Zero—a high-speed futuristic racing game with crazy-fast hovercars and brutal difficulty. Watching us wipe out at 900 km/h would definitely be entertaining.
9. Secret of Mana (1993)
SNES RPGs were legendary, and Secret of Mana stands out with its real-time combat and multiplayer co-op. Maybe we’ll recruit some friends for a 3-player adventure through this beautifully crafted world.
10. Super Castlevania IV (1991)
Want some spooky retro vibes? Super Castlevania IV is the perfect mix of gothic horror and action-platforming. Watching us take on Dracula and his minions with Simon Belmont’s whip could be an epic throwback challenge.
