Favorite Games of 2024
The gaming landscape of last year was so rich and exciting that, even three weeks into the new year, we’re still assembling our list of favorites. Our selections don’t just include games that debuted in 2024 but also those that kept us hooked throughout the year. Here are some of our top picks—presented in no particular order:
Balatro
Balatro is an innovative deck-building game that blends the mechanics of poker and solitaire. Players use a standard 52-card deck to create poker hands, battling through blinds of increasing difficulty. It’s highly addictive, demanding a mix of skill, strategy, and a bit of luck.
WWE 2K24
Although we originally planned to produce a ton of WWE-related content this year, most of our time with WWE 2K24 ended up being those late-night gaming sessions we couldn’t resist. The game delivers plenty of highlights, from robust DLC packs to a wide array of match options. This year’s wrestling game truly kept us entertained.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge
Released in 2022, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge remains a fan favorite. This side-scrolling, pixelated beat ’em up features the iconic four turtles alongside additional allies like April O’Neil. It was Coach Ryan’s game of the year back in 2022, and its availability on PC, Xbox, and Switch ensures we can still sneak in sessions whenever we like.
Astro Bot
Astro Bot is a charming 3D platformer where you guide the titular character, a small robot named Astro, through creative levels using the DualSense controller. Its unique mechanics and engaging design made it a standout for us last year.
College Football 25
After almost a decade, EA Sports finally brought back College Football, and while it’s not without flaws, it’s undeniably fun. We spent countless hours immersing ourselves in the return of this beloved franchise, proving it was worth the wait.
These were just a few of the games that defined our 2024 gaming journey. What were your favorites? Let us know!
