A great game for the kids: Super Mario Wonder

Are you looking for a great game for your kids with a Nintendo Switch? Coach Ryan wrote this back in February after beating the game:

If you haven’t jumped into the world of Super Mario Wonder yet, I encorage you to do it… right now. GO, I’ll wait for you go start the download, or run to you local gaming store/spot. Get the game. Get it RIGHT NOW! No, you can’t borrow my copy… at some point I’ll tell the story of the #GAMEROOM library. Today isn’t that day.

Super Mario Wonder isn't just a game; it's an adventure that redefines the sense of cheerfulness and vigor of gaming. It was just pure fun from the very first minute to the last one where I finally did beat it. It was an exhilarating rollercoaster of challenges, and surprises A reminder of why I fell in love with games in the first place.

Another Mushroom Kingdom(ish) adventure, reinterpreted in a novel manner. The FLOWER KINGDOM

Super Mario Wonder takes us into the Flower Kingdom but with a whole new twist—its mood reset like nothing before. They've really outdone themselves on this one: introducing mechanics, power-ups, and a level design that is both novel and nostalgic. Every level is a literal masterpiece of challenges and joyous exploration, pushing one creatively to use the beautifully crafted world.

This latter element is what the game allows to really stand out, in spite of the great creativity of the design of the characters and surroundings. It hits precisely the right measure in terms of offering a level of challenge yet not making it so difficult that it would become less amusing for a more casual player. It'll be taut and responsive such that each time one makes a jump, run, or power-up, an indelible sense of accomplishment is felt. New abilities are brought in, adding many dimensions to gameplay, as solutions to multiple obstacles and enemies become possible.

The best part in Super Mario Wonder, though, is the part that really gives that sense of discovery. The secrets and alternate pathways littered throughout the levels reward a player's inquisitive nature with coins, sometimes power-ups, and occasionally entire hidden levels. It makes one actually play through just to explore and experiment with various parts; hence, every new time spent with the game is a fresh and different experience.

A Visual and Auditory Feast

On a visual level, Super Mario Wonder is a delight for the eyes. With its vivid and colorful art style, the Flower Kingdom is brought to life in animation. The character designs, the environments, and the animations are all executed so very high in quality and detail, to the extent that this world feels lively and dynamic.

For the soundtracks, it can't be left out too. It perfectly complements with the gameplay since it has catchy tunes that will stay in your mind all day after you lay down the console. The music will set the stage for various levels—upbeat rhythm to have adventure by day or something more mysterious to match the setting of a haunted castle.

Beating Super Mario Wonder and finally finishing the game was a bittersweet moment. It is ramped up in the final levels that test all the skills and knowledge that you have gathered through the game. The satisfaction from beating those challenges is immense, and the ending is a reward for completing a great adventure.

But by no means does that signify the fun ends with beating the game. Super Mario Wonder is packed full of secrets and challenges that don't force, but rather encourage re-playability.. and thus, be it while aiming at acquiring all the stars, tracking down every secret exit, or just the mere pleasure of playing through the levels all over again—there's always a reason to return to the Mario games. While my backlog is CRAZY, I can see myself diving into the Flower Kingdom again and again to enjoy the fun of this game.

Super Mario Wonder is dedicated to whatever makes gaming ever so lovely. It melds with challenging gameplay and the best visual aesthetics to an engaging sound that makes for an experience one will remember for a long time. A game that rekindled my love for games, bringing back that spark and enchantment in new worlds, in overcoming something. Without a doubt, Super Mario Wonder is one of the most fun and rewarding gaming experiences I've had in a while.
